  • Michael Weil, MD

    Medical Advisor
    Dr. Weil is a developer of low-cost healthcare devices for underserved regions and an innovator in low-energy x-ray therapy of advanced cancers. He is a founder of Sirius Medicine, which licensed kilovoltage (kV) x-ray optics to Siemens and developed clinically validated kV x-ray therapeutics, including contrast-enhanced radiotherapy (CERT) and radiation-based immunotherapy. He conducted the first clinical trials of kV radiosurgery along with kV-based immunotherapy and has performed over 200 such procedures on patients. Dr. Weil served on the faculty of the Departments of Radiation Oncology at the University of California, San Francisco, and the University of Colorado. He has been the author and principal investigator of a dozen submitted clinical oncology trials. Dr. Weil holds five U.S. patents with several others pending and develops planning and delivery methods as well as devices to optimize targeted dosing and distribution of therapy. He brought the Hal.o concept (focused microwaves) to Pyrexar and collaborated in its development.
  • Bert Liang, MD

    Medical Advisor
    Bert Liang is a scientist, advocate, serial entrepreneur and clinician who has been in the biotechnology industry for over 25 years. He has held various leadership roles both in public and private operational companies, as well as led efforts within industry representative organizations supporting biosimilars and biodefense. Prior to industry, he held academic appointments at the National Cancer Institute in Clinical Pharmacology, University of Colorado leading Neuro-oncology, and University of Vermont, heading Human Medical Genetics. Dr. Liang is an alumnus of the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University, the Institute of Materials Research and Innovation, University of Bolton, the Law School at University of London, Regis University, the MIT Sloan School of Management, as well as programs in internal medicine at Brown University, Neurology and Oncology at the University of Michigan, with post-doctoral studies in molecular biology and genetics at the National Center for Human Genome Sciences and National Cancer Institute. He has authored over 85 peer-reviewed publications, chapters and books, and edited a number of volumes in the fields of Neurology and Oncology, including Hematology-Oncology Clinics of North America, Neuro-oncology, published by Harcourt and is the author of two management books, Pragmatic MBA for the Scientific and Technical Executive, and Managing and Leading for Science Professionals (What I wished I’d known when moving up the Management Ladder) both published by Academic Press.
